Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Shane started studying classical piano when he was 4 years old. He later went on to study jazz and classical piano at the University of North Texas. After UNT, he went back to school at St. Edward’s University to study mathematics, and conducted a research project on the intersection between math and music theory.
Shane is passionate about teaching all ages, skill levels, and musical styles, with over 10 years of teaching experience. In addition to teaching, Shane has been performing in live bands in the Central Texas area since the age of 15. He remains an active participant in the Austin music scene, regularly performing and recording with bands of many different genres, including traditional jazz, modern jazz/fusion, blues, western swing, country, and more.
